LATENESS / CANCELLATION / REFUND  POLICY 5/19/11

UNFAVORABLE CONDITIONS:

Although some subject matter can be taught without wind, some lessons are unavoidably dependent on there being enough, but not too much wind. Additionally, sometimes big surf can make it impractical to give a water lesson. Also, most lessons can't be given in rain and it's possible that a location may be too crowded for a lesson.

We do our best to schedule lessons that are appropriate for the conditions but unfortunately Mother Nature is not predictable to the fine degree necessary. Sometimes, the right conditions are expected but don't develop, sometimes the right conditions exist but then become the wrong conditions and sometimes the wrong conditions unexpectedly become the right conditions. Additionally, it is occasionally possible for conditions to be unfavorable at one location but favorable at another - sometimes only a few minutes away and sometimes 30 to 60 minutes away.

If we meet at the scheduled location at the scheduled time, but CONDITIONS ARE TOO UNFAVORABLE, the client has the following options:

1.    If possible, CHANGE the lesson subject(s) to one or more which are practical and go on with the lesson.

2.    A).   INDIVIDUAL PRIVATE LESSON:

CANCEL and RESCHEDULE
the lesson within 30 minutes of its scheduled beginning - only 50% of the hourly rate for one person is due and the client receives 30 minutes of instruction.  If less than 15 minutes of time is used, 15 minutes will be added to the rescheduled lesson.

        B).   SMALL GROUP PRIVATE LESSON (more than one person):

CANCEL and RESCHEDULE
the lesson within 15 minutes of its scheduled beginning - only 25% of the GROUP hourly rate is due and the clients receive 15 minutes of instruction.  Clients may purchase up to an additional three 15 minute blocks of time at 25% of the GROUP hourly rate per 15 minutes.  However, the entire original amount of lesson time must be rescheduled regardless of any additional amount purchased on the date of cancellation.

3.     TRAVEL to another location in the hope of finding better conditions - travel time is charged at $7 per 15 minutes or any part thereof subsequent to a charge of 33% of the scheduled ONE PERSON hourly rate for the first 20 minutes.    Note: We may limit total time available to what was scheduled because we may have other obligations scheduled after that time slot.

4.      WAIT for conditions to improve - waiting time is charged at $6 per 15 minutes or any part thereof subsequent to a charge of 33% of the scheduled ONE PERSON hourly rate for the first 20 minutes. Note: We may limit total time available to what was scheduled because we may have other obligations scheduled after that time slot.

The above cancellation charges are due and payable by check or cash 
at the time incurred.

PURPOSE OF OUR LATENESS/CANCELLATION POLICY

We implemented the below policy in an attempt to reduce our costs and pass those savings on to our DESERVING clients. As you can see, our precarious dependence upon uncontrollable conditions creates exceptional problems from a business point of view by severely limiting the time available for lessons.

When clients are late, cancel or don't show up, it squanders this limited time and creates severe problems for us which effectively become additional costs.

By charging the individuals responsible, rather than simply passing these costs on to all our clients, we're hopefully minimizing the costs for on time clients and providing additional motivation for timeliness.

CLIENT LATENESS, CANCELLATION AND NO SHOWS

LATENESS:

Lessons begin and end promptly at their scheduled times.   Because it's not feasible for us to have a grace period, if you're late, your lesson will still end at its scheduled time and you will necessarily be charged for the full time.   Please try to arrive a little early (or a lot - after all, it is at the beach).

PLEASE  NOTE :

  • There is NO GRACE PERIOD associated with the below times.

  • Cancellations MUST BE MADE BY CALLING 310-430-KITE(5483), NOT by email.

  • The following cancellation charges are due and payable in cash or by check at the time of the rescheduled lesson and UNUSED LESSON TIME MAY NOT BE SUBSTITUTED as payment.

  • Cancelled lessons MUST be rescheduled for a date NO MORE THAN 30 days from the date of the cancelled lesson. IF NOT RESCHEDULED within said 30 days, the charge will be the same as a NO SHOW.

CANCELLATIONS

  • If cancelled and rescheduled AT LEAST 72 hours in advance, there is NO CHARGE.

  • If cancelled and rescheduled AT LEAST 48 hours in advance, there is a charge of $25 OR $10 per hour scheduled, whichever is more.

  • If cancelled and rescheduled AT LEAST 24 hours in advance, there is a charge of $35 OR $15 per hour scheduled, whichever is more.

  • If cancelled and rescheduled AT LEAST 2 hours in advance, there is a charge of $45 OR $20 per hour scheduled, whichever is more.

  • If  NOT cancelled and rescheduled AT LEAST 2 hours in advance, the charge is the same as a "NO SHOW".

NO SHOWS :

If a client does not show up or cancel and reschedule his/her lesson AT LEAST 2 hours in advance, then the CHARGE IS 50% of the scheduled lesson cost for one person. We will wait for the amount of time which has been paid for.


    CREDIT CARD CHARGES:

    Because we are charged 5 % to process a credit card payment, any credit card payment refunds will be minus 5 % of the amount charged.    However, generally NO PAYMENTS ARE REFUNDABLE.
